Richard Bonna works for Thum & Partner as a patent attorney. He drafts German and European patent applications, advises clients on this matter and supports clients in patent disputes. He mainly focuses on electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and medical engineering. Moreover, he is well-versed in patenting software-related inventions and has experience in the fields of mobile communications, aerospace engineering and logistics.
Before joining Thum & Partner, he worked for a patent law firm in Aachen, where he handled patent applications for a leading cellphone provider and assisted in advising several German start-ups on the development of their patent portfolios, among other things.
Richard Bonna studied electrical engineering at the RWTH Aachen University. During his studies, he also deepened his knowledge in micro- and nanoelectronics and worked at the Institute for Analog Integrated Circuits, where he concentrated on Power over-Ethernet applications and motor drivers based on SiC power transistors.
