Jonas Weickert advises clients in all IP matters with a special focus on biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, industrial engineering and automotive engineering. He focuses on contentious proceedings. In addition to German and European opposition and nullity proceedings, he is also involved in numerous cases before the Unified Patent Court and works in teams across law firms and countries on infringement cases and larger case complexes such as Edwards v Meril and NJOY v Juul.
Before becoming a partner of Thum & Partners, he worked for one of Germany’s leading IP law firms in Munich as well as one of the largest law firms at Lake Constance.
Jonas Weickert has a broad natural sciences and engineering background. He holds a degree in physics with a focus on biophysics and wrote his doctoral thesis on alternative photovoltaic technologies. He received scholarships from the Elite Network of Bavaria and the Carl Zeiss Foundation and is the author of over 30 scientific publications and a textbook which have been quoted over 1500 times.
Handelsblatt in cooperation with Best Lawyers lists him as one of Germany's "Ones to Watch". Furthermore, JUVE Patent mentions him as "recommended individual" in its 2024 patent law firm ranking.
